Umar b. Abdul Aziz: 5 Characteristics for his companionship…
Umar b. Abdul Aziz RA said to his companions: “Any one of you who is with me should adhere to five characteristics. Firstly, he should direct me to justice through the best
possible ways which I would not miss. Secondly, he should help me in doing good. Thirdly, he should tell me something that no one else can tell me. Fourthly, he should never talk in my presence about anyone behind his back. Finally, he should be trustworthy to those who entrusted him.
If anyone of you has these characteristics, then he is welcome to be in my company, but if not then he should not be allowed in my company and to be in my presence.”

Umar b. Abdul Aziz (d. 720 CE) had the honor of being not only of the 12 righteously guided Caliphs as ordained by the Prophet S, but also one of the major mujaddids of the Ummah.
