The rights your brother has over you…
The Prophet SAWS: “He who relieves a hardship of this Dunya (this earthly life) for a believer, Allah will relieve a hardship of the Day of Resurrection
for him; he who makes it easy for an indebted person, Allah will make it easy for him in the Dunya and the Hereafter; he who covers a Muslim (his mistakes and shortcomings), Allah will cover him in the Dunya and the Hereafter; Allah will be in the slave ‘s need, as long as the slave is in his (believing) brother’s need…” [Muslim]
Ali, RA, said: “I would much rather give twenty dirhams to a brother in Allah than spend 100 dirhams on the needy. This is because of the right your brother has upon your wealth.”
Al-Hasan Al-Basri, RA, said, “Our brothers are more beloved to us than our family and children because our family reminds us of this life, but our brothers remind us of the hereafter.”
Imam Hassan Al-Banna explained that you must acquaint yourself with the financial situation of your brothers and they should know your financial situation in order for the takaful (mutual support) to be fully realized in the proper way. This ensures that one brother does not live in abundance and happiness while another lives in poverty and distress.
When a righteous Muslim was jailed because of his Islamic activities. His brother in the sake of Allah divided his salary between his own family and the family of his imprisoned brother. When his wife asked him, “How can we get by on half a salary?”, he answered, “How can my brother’s children get by on no salary at all?”
